2009-06-13 -More Cumberland County homes, firms getting high-speed Internet

More homes and businesses in Cumber­land County are able to subscribe to high­-speed Internet access.

Seaside High-Speed Internet,
a partner in the province’s Broadband for Rural Nova Scotia initiative, announced Friday that high-speed access is available in Athol Station, Diligent River, East Mapleton, Five Islands, Gilbert Mountain, Green­hill, Kirkhill, Leamington, Lower Five Is­lands, Lynn, Mapleton, New Prospect, Parrsboro, Pettigrew Settlement, River­side Beach, South Athol, South Brook, Southampton, Two Islands, West Brook, Wharton and Yorke Settlement.

David Horton, general manager of Sea­side, said the company is making steady progress building across rugged parts of Cumberland County.

The entire province is expected to have high-speed Internet access by the end of the year, making Nova Scotia one of the most connected jurisdictions in North America.
