2009-06-13 -More Cumberland County homes, firms getting high-speed Internet
More homes and businesses in Cumberland County are able to subscribe to high-speed Internet access.
Seaside High-Speed Internet, a partner in the province’s Broadband for Rural Nova Scotia initiative, announced Friday that high-speed access is available in Athol Station, Diligent River, East Mapleton, Five Islands, Gilbert Mountain, Greenhill, Kirkhill, Leamington, Lower Five Islands, Lynn, Mapleton, New Prospect, Parrsboro, Pettigrew Settlement, Riverside Beach, South Athol, South Brook, Southampton, Two Islands, West Brook, Wharton and Yorke Settlement.
David Horton, general manager of Seaside, said the company is making steady progress building across rugged parts of Cumberland County.
The entire province is expected to have high-speed Internet access by the end of the year, making Nova Scotia one of the most connected jurisdictions in North America.
