Seaside in the news
2009-06-24 -Daily Business Buzz - Seaside High-Speed Internet spreads from Southampton through to Five Islands in Cumberland County
[SYDNEY, NS] Many more homes and businesses in parts of Cumberland County are now able to subscribe to high-speed Internet access. This new service means they’ll be able to use their phone and the Internet at the same time and download information up to 25 times faster than dial-up.
Seaside High-Speed Internet, a partner in the province’s Broadband for Rural Nova Scotia initiative, is now offering high-speed Internet access in the communities of Athol Station, Diligent River, East Mapleton, Five Islands, Gilbert Mountain, Greenhill, Kirkhill, Leamington, Lower Five Islands, Lynn, Mapleton, New Prospect, Parrsboro, Pettigrew Settlement, Riverside Beach, South Athol, South Brook, Southampton, Two Islands, West Brook, Wharton and Yorke Settlement.
“It’s very gratifying to see steady progress in our build across Cumberland County,” says David Horton, general manager of Seaside High-Speed Internet.
Due to the rugged nature of Nova Scotia’s landscape, there’s no guarantee everyone in a particular area will have access to the signal right away. For properties where signal strength is inadequate, further network expansion will be required.
The speed and cost of this service is comparable to urban Nova Scotia. Seaside’s customer service and professional installation teams are ready to help residential and business customers take full advantage of high speed. For updates on service availability, call 1-888-965-5511 or visit www.seasidehighspeed.com.
This broadband service is available under the provincial government’s Broadband for Rural Nova Scotia initiative. When completed at the end of the year, the entire province will have high-speed Internet access, making Nova Scotia one of the most connected jurisdictions in North America. This will give Nova Scotia’s students, businesses and families the opportunity to connect and compete worldwide. Funding partners in this project are the Province of Nova Scotia, the Government of Canada and Seaside High-Speed Internet.
