Seaside in the news
2009-09-01 -High-speed Internet brings new business opportunities to a unique Cape Breton tourist destination
Glenville, NS - Seaside High-Speed and an intimate audience of local residents gathered at the famed Glenora Inn and Distillery in Glenville, Nova Scotia on Friday, August 28 to unveil yet more communities in Rural Nova Scotia that have access to high speed.
“It has been a very active summer for Seaside High-Speed,” stated Adam Conter, spokesperson for Seaside. “It is certainly a treat to be here and celebrate the delivery of our service to one of Nova Scotia’s most unique rural businesses.”
Conter refers to the Glenora Inn and Distillery, known for being Canada’s only Single Malt distillery. Glenora has had some tremendous successes of late, including the hosting of an international geologist convention. and a successful court triumph maintaining its naming rights.
“It’s been a banner year for the distillery” said Donnie Cameron, Manager of the Inn. “We have been very busy and are happy to have added high-Speed internet to our inn.”
Cameron stated that within the hotel and hospitality industry, access to the internet has become expected. “It used to be an amenity, now it’s a necessity.”
Three weeks ago, an international geological conference used the entire the inn to host a weeklong gathering. When asked if high-speed internet would be available, Donnie made a hurried call to Seaside. “We were in a bit of a tight spot, as the internet would be a tremendous added bonus for this conference and our general ability to book world class meetings.”
Seaside, acting quickly, came to the support of this Inverness jewel, and deployed its commissioning teams to install equipment and power up a chain of towers, three weeks ahead of schedule. “When our guests arrived, we were up and running with very fast, very new, high-speed internet,” noted Cameron.
Since the installation, Cameron has noticed an increase in comments on the feedback cards. “People are not only thanking us for having internet access, but complimenting us on its speed.”
Seaside will be hosting a series of public meetings every Thursday for the next eight weeks across the north eastern area of the province. To find the meeting in your area please visit the community calendar at www.seasidehighspeed.com.
